A Commentary on Love

November 18, 2010

I wrote this back in 2008, prior to meeting the love of my life and partner. This is how I have always felt about same-sex marriage. Irregardless of who you are or what religion you believe in, LOVE is Universal. Can you imagine what the world would be like if Love, Respect, and Gratitude were the emotions that ruled the world? I ask anyone and everyone to really ask him or herself how they would feel if they were told that they couldn’t marry the love of their life based on “popular” vote.

What if you were told you couldn’t marry because of your religious affiliations? One of you is Catholic and one of you is Jewish? – One of my very best friends wouldn’t be here along with her sisters and brothers.

What if you were told you couldn’t marry because of the color of your skin? One of you is white and one of you is chinese? I wouldn’t have my adorable little cousin.

What if you were told you couldn’t marry because of financial status? One of you is “rich” and one of you is “poor”? It’s possible that I wouldn’t be here.

Do you see the immaturity? Just because a couple is gay… they’re different (Oh My!) they cannot marry? Why Not???? Does this really affect you as an individual? Does this affect the way you live your life?

Exactly what is it that makes people feel that they have a right to take someone else’s happiness away? What gives them the right to tell someone that their love is “wrong”?

We all have the right – as humans – to love and be loved, to be happy, to share a life with someone we love. Gays and Lesbians are humans with human emotions and rights.

I post this eloquent commentary in hopes of spreading common sense and love.

Letting Go.

March 10, 2010

So many things enter our minds.. all the time. Always worried about the hows and whys.

I know for me, things from the past will creep into my head and I start worrying about… WHY? It’s in the past. A saying that came to me that has helped me work through this is “Everything happens exactly the way it’s supposed to, and some things just aren’t to my personal taste”. Whatever happens, it is meant to help you grow. Learn from it and let it go.

We have all been through situations or relationships that didn’t quite turn out the way we wanted them to. So are you going to continue to let it effect your life now? We must forgive in order to be free to live the life we really want. Just because you have forgiven doesn’t mean that what happened is accepted or made right, it just means that you are ready to move on, ready to live your authentic self. Let it go! Let your spirit break free from the chains that hold you in the past.

Long ago, I was in a relationship with someone and did things that caused it end. I held on to that for many, many years. Why? I thought that I could make it right. I thought that I could still salvage that relationship. I thought alot of things that had no reality to the actual situation. I thought that this person was my safety zone and attached my self-beliefs upon his opinion of me.

One day, it finally hit me what I was doing. I got angry and sad. I cried. I laughed at myself. I forgave myself and took back my self-worthiness and self-love. I Let it Go! This person is still a very dear friend, but I don’t base my happiness on him anymore. Now, I have found someone that I love and want to spend the rest of my life with. I let the old beliefs go and made room for a new, exciting adventure.

Let me say that again… Let the old beliefs go and make room for new, exciting adventures!

In Love & Light

10 Tips to Healthy Skin

October 16, 2009

Many of us are skin conscious. We often want our skin to look young and healthy and we need to protect our skin from whatever possible harms there may be in our environment. Our skin is our largest organ performing several functions. It primarily protects us against the invasion of foreign substances and it serves as the transfer point for the release of toxins from our bodies, thus our skin is worthy of protection and care.

Here are some tips that will help you on for a beautiful skin.

Tip #1: Drink Water

It is often said that the simplest way to clear and supple skin that is no longer dry is to drink plenty of water. Water has long been considered the most effective natural treatment or an almost free treatment for any skin condition because of its being alkaline, with pH 7.3. It prevents dehydration which is capable of producing sebum or oil from the sebaceous glands. Your skin needs water in order for it to function best, thus doctors and nutritionists recommend that a daily intake of between 6 to 8 glasses of water per day is highly needed.

Tip #2: Watch Your Diet

Nutrition plays a vital role in skin health too. Specific foods, such as those acidic foods and dairy products, are said to cause an allergic reaction in some people. Also, one of the widely debated topics in the area of nutrition today is chocolates. Some say that chocolate does affect the condition of the skin, while others say it doesn’t. Whatever the result may be, the best recommendation is just to follow a nutritious diet that has a number of fresh fruits and green-leafy veggies, as well as fiber.

Tip #3: Consider Exfoliants

Many experts say that exfoliating your skin is another great way to attain beautiful skin. Try to invest in a good body exfoliant or “loofah”, as it is commonly called, as it is capable of eliminating the dead skin cells from your body. This should be done once or twice a week to free the skin to breathe. What’s more, exfoliants help to prevent ingrown hairs from developing.

However, it is necessary to avoid using any body exfoliant for the skin on the face. The main reason for this precaution is that the facial tissue is more sensitive and finer than those tissues of the body.

Today, there is a myriad of exfoliating sponges in the market, as well as a number of really good exfoliant gels that are especially formulated for the skin on the face. Nevertheless, one of the necessary things to note is that those people with skin affected by acne should not apply exfoliating gels or sponges, as these may aggravate the acne infection. Try considering those exfoliating products for acne prone skin in the form of a skin peeling treatment instead. These products are now commonly offered my most salons anywhere in the world. And, perhaps what is best to consider is to consult a skin specialist before undertaking any form of skin peel.

Tip #4: Consider a Healthy Routine for Facial Care

When it comes to facial skin care, getting into a healthy beauty routine is not bad. Most doctors today highly recommend that you cleanse, moisturize and tone your skin twice every day. When cleaning, remember the area on the neck. Apply a moisturizer or neck cream after.

Before going to bed at night, always remember to remove all make up. Clean your skin before you sleep, no matter how tired you may feel. It has been found that during the night, the skin goes through a process of elimination and cannot breathe properly if it is clogged with make up. And, you may also find that sleeping with your make up on will cause your skin to “break out”.

When it comes to shaving, some men may experience shaving rashes. For many, these rashes lower their self-esteem, but this is actually not a big problem. There are a lot ways to avoid rashes. Perhaps one of the best is to make sure that when shaving, the razor strokes are following the direction of hair growth. That’s simply it!

Also, scarring on the face can sometimes be unsightly. To heal a scar, it is recommended that you use jasmine or neroli essential oils diluted in carrier oil. This is deemed effective for elimination of facial scars, and it even works on stretch marks as well. However, if you notice that the scar or stretch mark has gone silver or white in color, it cannot be removed anymore. And, if it is pinkish or red in color, there is a great possibility that it can be healed.

When it comes to bruises, there are arnica creams and ointments out there that are useful in healing bruises. It is also interesting to know that one way of dealing with bruises fast and effectively is to use Vicks Vaporub on the affected area.

Tip #5: Heal Your Feet

When it comes to skin care, the feet are often neglected. So, if you have no time for a professional pedicure, try to fill a footbath or basin with warm water and add your favorite essential oil. Soak your feet for about fifteen minutes. Then, dry them and apply a rough skin remover onto them. Rinse this off and dry your feet well. And simply add some body cream to your feet for an easy and quick fix pedicure.

Tip #6: Tie Your Hair Out of Your Face

For many people, getting their hair out of their faces for a few hours each day is necessary. The support for this claim is the belief that it will prevent spots from forming on the forehead, especially if you are prone to oily hair. It is noted that sometimes these oily deposits on the hair can be transferred to the skin which eventually causes the skin to develop acne or other disorders.

Tip #7: Avoid Too Much Exposure to the Sun

One of the most common precautions when it comes to skin care is avoiding too much exposure to the sun. As you may know, over exposure to sunlight causes sunburn. So, while current sunblocks only block out the UVB rays and still let in harmful UVA rays, it is still wise to cover up before venturing into the hands of Apollo. If possible, use a wide brimmed hat while tending your garden to keep the sun from your face.

Tip #8: Exercise

Aside from considering a healthy diet, exercising your body also helps keep your skin healthy. Note that proper exercise does not only keep the body fit by regulating the oxygen; it also improves the glow of the skin as well.

Tip #9: Get Enough Rest

One common problem people face is stress. It is found out that when a person is stressed, the adrenal cortex converts adrenal androgens to the hormone testosterone in both males and females, which in turn results in overactive sebaceous glands. The doubling amount of testosterone, causes the face to be oily, while other areas of the body are still dry from dehydration. Getting proper rest, that includes 6 to 8 hours of undisturbed sleep daily, is the best way to rejuvenate the skin.

Tip #10: Other Helpful Tips for Skin Care

There are a lot of home remedies for skin care. One of the most commonly suggested is blending egg white and honey well and then apply to the face. Experts believe that this makes your skin smooth and helps to reduce wrinkles.

Also, you should try blending turmeric powder with milk and apply to the face. This specifically removes the tan and assists in reducing the growth of facial hair. After applying it on the face, scrub it off with a good face scrub and then wash with cold water (not the extremely cold water). You can even leave it on overnight.

Some experts also recommend blending oatmeal along with curds and tomato juice. This is often kept on for 20 minutes and washed off with cold water. This is also good for removing the tan and keeping the skin light.

Did you know that cucumber juice is an excellent astringent for a beautiful, smooth skin? Yes it is. Applying cucumber juice on the face helps tighten the skin pores. However, it is necessary to wash it off after 15 minutes for better results.

Another great tip for skin consciousness is to apply Vaseline over the entire body after a shower. Then, shower again after one hour and repeat this twice a month. This also improves the condition of the skin.

Finally, you can use glycolic acid (mild peel) and trichloracetic acid (medium peel) solutions. As found out, these peels are safe and not overly aggressive. They do not necessitate time off from work or social activities, and these peels smoothen, soften and freshen the skin.

Always note that your skin reflects your health. It is your body’s canvas and one of its valuable assets. So, for good skin care, start developing healthy habits that generally protect your valued possession, the skin, from the outer and inner forces. Your daily habits mean everything as it is the only skin you’ll ever get.

What You Should Know About Tea Tree Oil for Acne

October 11, 2009

Tea tree oil is widely regarded as one of the more famous cures for acne. It is an essential oil derived from the leaves of an Australian plant called Melaleuca alternifolia. A lot of people resort to tea tree oil for acne problems because it has been proven to be an effective remedy. It also has powerful anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral characteristics.

Many people rely on tea tree oil for acne troubles. It is an anti-bacterial substance, which is why many people often use it and apply it on lesions to eliminate Propionibacterium acnes, the skin-dwelling bacteria that cause acne. Tea tree oil has a component known as terpinen-4-ol that is regarded as the main factor for the its antibacterial abilities. Aside from using tea tree oil for acne, people also use it on athlete’s foot, body odor, bad breath and cold sores.

The use of tea tree oil is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide in a number of acne treatments. Compared to benzoyl peroxide, using tea tree oil poses lesser side effects on affected people. The former is associated with side effects such as itching, burning, stinging, and dryness. While using tea tree oil does not guarantee total acne elimination, it can greatly reduce the amount of acne occurrences a person has.

If you’re planning to use tea tree oil as an acne remedy, it’s recommended that you purchase a cream that contains tea tree oil. You can also mix tea tree oil together with aloe before applying it on your skin as you would any other acne soap. This can be regarded as a benzoyl peroxide alternative.

Tea tree oil is a very potent substance and it is necessary to dilute it first before using it. If you use tea tree oil alone, your skin will become irritated. As with any other herb or medicine, tea tree oil is not suitable for all. Also know that applying too much tea tree oil on the skin can cause redness, itching, blistering and overdrying, making acne worse.

Since people suffering from acne have very sensitive skin, you have to be careful in using tea tree oil as an acne remedy. If you want to use tea tree oil, start with a very mild dosage and test it first on a small part of their skin. If your skin becomes aggravated, lower the dose. If the lower dose still causes irritation, you will need to use another treatment.

Forced Vaccinations???

September 27, 2009

I bring this to you because I truly care about you, your health, your rights as a US citizen and your rights as a human being.

I definitely have had my own concerns regarding vaccinations, especially for the H1N1 Virus… and I hope you have too. But, we as human beings should always have the right to make our own choices about our health. We should not be forced to get the vaccine. Maryland has already passed a law to force this vaccination on their residents with fines and jail time if you refuse.

I have come across information from Jane Burgermeister and her endeavors to inform everyone of her research regarding this “Swine Flu” vaccine. Jane has filed criminal charges against the World Health Organization (WHO). Here is the interview she did with Project Camel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PelTWCUmTsU

Please also check out Jane’s Website: http://www.theflucase.com/
She has provided a download section with copies of the charges filed against the WHO as well as the documents sent to the FBI.

I ask everyone to please do your own research into the H1N1 vaccine and into any laws being drafted in your state to force this vaccine onto the people. Ask yourself WHY this vaccine is being forced upon everyone in the World. Ask yourself why they are targeting this vaccine on the most sensitive groups of people – the young, the old, and the pregnant.

Get informed. Make your own decisions. Don’t let someone who doesn’t know you or your health needs make the decisions for you.

Always In Love & Light.
